JOB ROLE, COMPANY + DATE
Marketing Intern for Jay Goldberg Events & Entertainment (Summer 2024)
RESPONSIBILITIES
In this role, I created weekly using Meta Business Suite for Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter for The Canopy Club and Jay Goldberg Events & Entertainment.
I coordinated with venue promoter websites to help produce engaging event bios, videos, and social media updates. During the summer, I also contributed to the setup of concerts and a festival called summer camp, assisting with logistics, marketing, and social media outreach with the marketing manager. My duties also included email outreach to radio stations, news networks, and campus-registered organizations for event promotion and setup.
WHAT I LEARNED
What I learned within this role made me understand not only what goes into the entertainment industry side of social media but it also helped me realize all the chaos behind social media. This experience honed my skills in social media management, event coordination, and client communication, helping me understand why brands do what they do and preparing me to work better with clients who want to be more involved with social media in the future.
ACHIEVEMENTS
A key achievement during this role involved helping set up the social media campaign for Buddy Guy, an 8-time Grammy winner and an iconic figure in Chicago blues culture. This campaign significantly increased our online presence and engagement, leveraging Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter to enhance outreach.
